It took several years for Martinez to get better from lingering knee injuries.
At 45-years-old, Martinez wants to proceed marching ahead except he accomplishes his aim of a showdown with WBA “common” middleweight champion Ryota Murata of Japan.

After two comeback fights, Martinez has already secured a number 5 ranking in the WBA’s excellent-ten at middleweight.
With the intention of facing Murata by the end of subsequent year, Martinez realizes that he needs to face a much better stage of opposition.
“we’re speakme with my group, so that in April there may be yet another combat. in the event that they supply me a choice, I decide on two extra fights, and then bounce to the one with the title. i am now not 20 years ancient and that i [can’t wait around forever]. i need two annoying fights,” Martinez told Olé.
“at this time i’m taking a look at opponents with a list of 30 wins and a couple of losses. I have to carry the degree of the opponent as a result of I already believe in the appropriate [physical] circumstance… i am lower back, as they are saying. I want to be world champion again. And a champion is constructed. To consider that I could return to the level that I left after six years without combating and with out receiving a punch, can be loopy.
“i know what it takes to be a champion, I’ve already been via that. it’s intricate and they can hurt you, but I’ve work for that: the challenge is not how tons i will land, it is how clear [my face will] be after each fight: at forty five years historic it’s an amazing problem.”
